Igor Čavrak

Igor Čavrak graduated in 1996. and received academic degrees of Master of Science in 2001. and PhD from computer science in 2006., all from University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). In 2006, he spent a month at the University of Paderborn, Germany. From September 1996. till December 2009. he held the position of an assistant and higher assistant at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of electrical engineering and computing, Department of Control and Computer Engineering. Since December 2009. he holds the position of an Assistant professor at the same department. He has been involved in many domestic and international research and industrial cooperation projects, including “European Education Connectivity Solution” (EU-FP7; 2009-2011.), “Collaborative Internationalization of Software Engineering in Croatia“, (EU Tempus; 2007-2009.), „Distributed Component-based Embedded Software Systems” (Unity Through Knowledge Fund, 2008.-2011.), “Exploring Manycore Architectures for Next-Generation HPC Systems” (EU-H2020 FET; 2016.-2018.). He published eight papers in international journals and more than twenty papers in proceedings of international conferences. Areas of professional interest include highly parallelized and distributed data processing algorithms, distributed intelligent systems, pervasive computing, software engineering and open computing. 

 

At the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, he is responsible for the following courses: Open Computing, Computers and Processes, Distributed Software Development and Pervasive Computing. He was deeply involved in introducing the innovative course “Distributed Software Development”, jointly held among FER, Mälardalen University, Sweden and Politecnico di Milano, Italy. The course won several domestic and international awards. 

 

Within the framework of Erasmus Staff Mobility Grant, he visited Mälardalen University, Västerås, Sweden andPolitecnico di Milano, Italy. He has been involved in creating of the teaching material and in conducting of lifelong learning programs within the scope of “School of open computing“ at FER. 

 

Igor Čavrak is a member of IEEE, ACM and KES International. He received the University of Zagreb Rector’s award in 1995., and Josip Lončar silver plate from FER for outstanding doctoral dissertation in academic year 2005/06.
